Hello,

This is Monique from England wanting to give you feedback on the brace that Kristi is wearing. She is doing really well and accepted the brace extremely quickly. I would say that within 2 days she was acting and walking completely normally. The brace is giving her knee the support she needs and she is now almost fully weight bearing on the bad leg. Until she was wearing her brace she would start to hop after 15 mins of walking and now, just a month on, this week we have been doing 2 one hour walks a day and she is fine!! She is able to run and sniff and act like a normal dog again.

I cant thank you enough for giving her back good movement quality and for such a wonderful product. I was always disinclined to go for this surgery and Kristi was not a good surgical candidate anyway. I’m really glad I trusted my instincts and went down this route instead. I would wholeheartedly endorse this product to other dog owners.

Good luck with all your future patients !!

Yours,

Monique Webb

Our dog was diagnosed with a CCL in April 2012. After much angst, we decided against the recommended surgery and bought the A-Trac Brace. She was afraid to walk and in too much pain so she was just lying down (on pain meds) for a week. She is 7 years old and 70 pounds. The brace came quickly and we followed the instructions to the letter. She was up and walking slowly around the house the first day with her spiffy red brace. From there, by sticking closely to the instructions i.e. keeping her confined and not overdoing it, she gradually got better. I would take off her brace once in a while when she was sleeping so I could wash it. She was completely insecure without her brace and would lie down and wait until I put it back on her. One day, four months later, she refused her brace after the wash and she got up on all fours. We limited her running as we were afraid of a re-injury but now she is confident and wants to be active on all fours (she had wasting from muscle loss but it is building back up well.) So, although, we fear her re-injuring herself one day or injuring the other side, we feel confident that if she does, the A-Trac Dynamic Brace will get her through it. Thank you for saving her life by avoiding surgery! This was a thoughtful, amazing invention!

Pookie is 10.5 years old who weighs 97 pounds. He is a service dog for my
husband (Disabled Veteran) as well as a therapy dog that goes into hospitals
to visit our wounded warriors and cheer them up. He has always been active
for his age. One night he took off across our yard chasing a cat. He went
out on 4 legs and came back on 3. We thought maybe he had just pulled a
muscle so we alternated ice and heat. By the next day he was still refusing
to put his leg down at all, holding it up as high as he could. We went to
the vet where they diagnosed him with a “probable torn cruciate ligament.”
Our vet told us he had to have surgery and he had to have it immediately to
save his other leg. Of course this was a scary though not only for
financial reasons (surgery was anywhere from $3,500-$4,200) but also because
of his age I didn’t want to put him under and have him go through that
recovery. In addition, I did not feel comfortable with the ‘probable’
diagnosis….nothing was even certain! We came home and started to do
research. We researched for well over a week before I found the WoundWear
A-trac dynamic brace on dogkneeinjury.com and after spending several hours
reading reviews there, decided we would try it. I contacted my vet for help
in sizing, however, she refused to help and made it clear surgery was the
only way. We called and Dr. Spatt was amazing! He helped us do the sizing
to make sure we did it right and let me know exactly what to expect. The
next day we got everything we needed to measure him, did the measurements
and placed our order. The brace arrived 5 days later (we ordered late on
Friday and there was a holiday on Monday). When we first put it on Pookie
was hesitant of it, but as soon as we got him up, he put his leg down. He
put no weight on it still, but he did put it down to ‘touch’ when he was
standing. Within 2 hours of having it on, he would put a small amount of
weight on it about 20% of the time he was up and about. By the end of the
first week he was walking on it 50% of the time. 10 days after he had the
brace on, he was walking on it 98% of the time and I do have to say I think
the times he limps, is not because he is having pain but because he is
faster when he limps with 3 legs then he is when he hobbles with 4 and he
likes to get places fast! On day 11 we took him for his first walk just up
the sidewalk. He was so happy to be out of the house! He did AMAZING! He
was slow which was to be expected and his legs did shake but he had been
down for 3.5 weeks since the injury first happened so his legs had become
weak. He did so well that about 4 hours later we took him back up the road
again for another short walk. Again he was slow, but walking and did great.
We still have a long ways to go before he can take the brace off but it is
clear to us that the brace is doing its job and he is healing nicely. If he
had done the surgery not only would be extremely broke right now, but he
would still be down and trying to recover. Now he is at least getting a
glimpse at his normal life and on a fast track to recovery.

Dear Dr. Spatt:

On May 6, 2012, while running and playing around, Teddy jumped and landed with a sharp Yelp. He immediately held up his leg and would not put it down. Within an hour, he was at the vet, the diagnosis was a torn CCL. They wanted to perform surgery the next day. Greatly upset, I got a second opinion. He recommended surgery but it was not required immediately. He knew I was not fond of Teddy having surgery unless it was necessary. Rimidayl and time to rest with a wait and see approach was recommended. I wanted to try a more conversative approach so my vet researched and recommended the A-Brace. On June 8, rec’d the brace, was able to fit it on Teddy with the assistance of Dr. Spatt. Teddy was able to put weight on the leg immediately. Recommended by Dr. Spatt, Teddy started Hyrdotherapy and Cold Laser Therapy on June 24th at Water4dogs in NYC. On July 28, our 6 week checkup, Dr. Stancel was shocked at the progress Teddy was making, 80% improvement. The A-Brace is key to his recovery. We are so thankful for Dr. Spatt and his A-Brace!

Thanks again for creating such a Wonderful and Valuable product!!!!

Regards,

Hi,

My name is Elizabeth Burns. I am writing to say thank you to your customer service team, and to say what a wonderful product. I have been stressed about a condition that our family dog has requiring routine surgeries. Each time her stitches are in an impossible location to cover and protect. I have tried numerous attempts to invent (jerry rig) something and have come close but always missing the mark! I have looked and looked online for such a thing and FINALLY! The Full Body Suit! I received the one for my pet just today and could not be more relieved! I seriously feel a burdon lifted. My pet is comfortable and happy and now I can be happy too.

I also cannot stress enough how wonderful your staff is. There was an error in the ordering process and after waiting anxiously for your product to arrive I was horrified to find the wrong item. I immediately called and was certain that I would get the same as expected customer service and wait out the weekend before getting relief, BUT to my delight the staff was extremely helpful and caring. We recieved the correct item the next day! They did everything perfectly and I can’t wait to tell anyone about ” Wound Wear” that might need your products.

Thank You,

Elizabeth Burns

Hello!

Just wanted to let you know that Sasha is doing extremely well after almost 3 mo. in her brace! When it arrived she was hardly walking and if she did she would hold the leg up. Once in the brace she started to bear weight again and
within 45 days or so we were able to walk her for 5+ minutes and even let her take it off late at night for sleeping.

She came on vacation with us recently so her activity level was really up there! She wore her brace almost the whole time because of her desired level of activity. She did amazingly swimming, it must have felt so good! I thought she would be sore after she swam several times each day, and played ALL day, but she kept up with her sister and never limped once!

Thank you so very much!

I have a 6 year old akita that had torn an acl when she was 3 – I ordered an A-Trac brace for her and she did great! She wore that, and was able to put weight on the leg. She never bothered the brace. She has not worn the brace for @1 ½ years, and has seemed very stable. However, after a grooming appt, she shows signs of an acl tear in the opposite rear leg. I want to get another brace, and I see a bilateral one on the order form. Any special considerations with the bilateral brace? Any additional measurements, other than to measure both thighs? Am planning on measuring instead of xrays to help with costs.

Thanks for any input you have before her appt with the vet 7/20/12.

Dr. Spatt,

I wanted to take a few minutes to send you an email. I took Izzy, my 13 year old husky mix in for her hind leg to a specialty vet just outside of Detroit who was recommended by my regular vet. They wanted something on the order of $4,000 to operate on her leg. It was painful, but I was prepared to max out my credit card to take care of her. On the day of the surgery, the specialty vet I took her to wanted to run some blood work because of something they found in the paperwork from my regular vet. I left Izzy there with a bad feeling. They then called and wanted to do an ultrasound on her abdomen and they found some sort of growth. The specialty vet told me they wanted to investigate this because it could be more serious than her leg. This would cost me an additional $4,000. In a panic, I started to run through my mind what I could sell in order to cover this additional cost. What threw me over the edge was when this vet is asking me for permission, over the phone, to do this and said to me “if we open her up and it looks bad, we’ll call you to see if you want us to put her down”. I couldn’t take it any more, I hadn’t even had a chance to say goodbye to my girl, and all I wanted was for her leg to feel better in the first place.

I got in my car and went to pick her up, paid them $800 for their “tests” and took her home to re-evaluate what I was going to do. I got to thinking about a brace for her leg, since humans have braces, and I found your website. At a couple of hundred dollars, it was well worth the risk of trying something unconventional. My regular vet didn’t want to recommend your product because she didn’t know anything about it. I didn’t care, I ordered it anyway. We got the brace a few days later, and Izzy wore it quite a lot for several weeks afterwards and we weened her off of it.

That took place about 7 months ago. She has been up and around for months now, and while she’s slow, I don’t think she’s any worse off now then any other 13 year old dog. She goes on her daily walk, and even has a bit of fight left in her to wrestle with my two year old husky.

The last round of tests have shown that whatever it is in her abdomen, it’s not growing fast enough to worry about. You and your product saved me thousands of dollars and greatly improved the quality of life Izzy has for whatever length of time we have left with her. Our vet has also been extremely impressed and said she would feel comfortable recommending your product after seeing the huge improvement. Before your brace, Izzy could barely put weight on her leg and constantly limped and cried. Now, she’s ready for a rumble.

Thank you very much for your product, and the care you put into designing it.

Hello Folks,

My dog Goldie had a complete tear last year, so my wife and I took her to the vet and she told us it would cost $3000 to fix it. We didn’t listen to her and we are glad we didn’t. We decided to purchase this brain doctors brace for $300. She had it on 24/7 for 3 months and she for 3 months had it on for walks and the doggy park. She is 100% healed for this great doctors invention. I have no interest in this website and make no money saying great things regarding this doctor. I’m a manager with CVS Pharmacy and work at Petsmart. But before you choose surgery, you need to try his brace.
